animal friendly:
Wool Clasica Naturals sheep are provided with ample healthy grass in Peru to freely graze and do not suffer from the practice of mulesing.
Picture
dye free:
Dye free means just that—there was no dye used on the fiber at any time during the processing of the yarn. The color of this yarn is just as it was when the sheep sported it around their local field.

The different colors in this yarn are from different colored sheep, spun together to create a variegated effect.

fair trade:
Manos del Uruguay's yarns are officially recognised as fair trade by the WFTO. Therefore it is ensured that farmers receive a guaranteed minimum price for their crops; workers enjoy a safe working environment and a reasonable living wage and forced child labor is strictly prohibited. Harmful argochemicals and GMO's are also prohibited to protect the environment and the workers.

Manos del Uruguay supports artisans throughout the countryside of Uruguay, bringing economic and social opportunities to the rural woman.

why I like it:
This is a beautiful, single-ply, loosely spun yarn that works up quickly in a large gauge. So, in addition to the great eco- and people-friendly information above, it's a great yarn for instant gratification projects. I also love the color combos! I had the hardest time picking the right one for Mauna Kea.

Many thanks to Jenny for her continued cooperation in helping me to understand as much as possible about the processing of the Wool Clasica Natural yarn.
