This hat begins with the band, it's worked back and forth in rows, but joined at the end of each round, then turned to create the ribbed effect. The rise of the hat is then worked even, in the round without turning. The crown of the hat can be made in 2 ways—lacy and open, or in ridges, matching the band.
They're so comfortable and easy to make.
Sizes: Adult Small (Medium, Large)
Finished Measurements:
20 (22½, 25)" [51 (57, 63.5) cm] circumference
Yarn Requirements:
Shown in Cascade's Ecological Wool yarn
100% natural peruvian wool
250 gram hank = approx 478 yards
1 hank or approx 140 (160, 180) yards in a comparable earth-friendly yarn
Crochet Hook:
Size US J/10 (6 mm)
Or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 11 single crochets through the back loop = 4" (10 cm); 2 stitch repeats and 2 row repeats = 4¾" (12 cm) in rise pattern. Take time to save time, check your gauge.
