animal friendly: All the Quince & Co. wools come from American ranches from Montana to Wyoming. They choose farms who provide their sheep with ample healthy grass to freely graze and do not practice mulesing.
dye friendly:
Quince and Co. uses low-impact dyes on all their yarns—meeting EPA standards. Low impact dyes are less harmful to our planet than most other methods of dying—even natural dyes. Low impact dyes have a higher than average absorbtion rate, meaning fewer natural resources are used to set the color.
Low Carbon Footprint: Chickadee is an All-American yarn. The wool is grown spun and dyed on American soil. The wool comes from Montana to Wyoming, shipped to either Texas or North Carolina to be scoured, then to Maine for spinning and distribution. While there is still travel required across the United States, the carbon footprint is still significantly less than a yarn that travels overseas for distribution on American soil.
why I like it: Chickadee is beautifully spun, into a sport-weight yarn with fabulous elasticity. It stitches into a beautiful fabric, showing off whatever stitch you choose to work it into!
